The purpose of this video is to assist private individuals in their sanctions compliance when travelling to Russia and/or Belarus for private visits.
One would not expect that sanctions apply to such travelling. Yet, they do in many ways and one of them is the general prohibition in effect in the EU and the UK to bring cash. The personal use exemption to this prohibition was given a narrow interpretation and would not allow, for example, to bring cash to support your close family members.
We aim to explain how the restriction operates and what is and is not permitted.
