UKSC sets out the rules for JR of sanctions designations

On 29 July 2025, the UK Supreme Court gave an important judgement in the case of Shvidler (Appellant) v Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs (Respondent); Dalston Projects Ltd and others (Appellants) v Secretary of State for Transport (Respondent). The judgement sets out the principles which will be applied in the UK in connection with the judicial review challenge of the public authorities’ sanctions designations.
