In this presentation we develop our series, Sanctions 360°, by the geographical expose of UN and national sanctions’ regimes relevant for three jurisdictions: Guatemala, Haiti, and Nicaragua.
These sanctions’ regimes is a good opportunity to reflect on whether sanctions is just another tool of national politics aimed at nothing else than advancing the interests of the sanctioning nations, or a problem-solving mechanism based on fair application of law. It is also a good opportunity to reflect on the interaction between international and national sanctions’ regimes.
