In this video we expand the geographical scope of our series Sanctions 360° to Venezuela. Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world. The country is also reach in other natural resources, for example, natural gas and gold. It has been historically an important trading partner for the US and the EU, and an important player in world energy market. However, starting from 2017 – 2019, doing business with Venezuela is complex due to economic sanctions. We consider the existing national sanctions regimes which are relevant for trading with Venezuela by putting them in the context of the national economy of the country. Venezuela is a recent entry in the sanctions world, yet, the US sanctions imposed against the country are complex and comprehensive. Understanding such sanctions is key for dealing with Venezuela.
