Sanctions 360: Sanctions and trade with Libya

In this video we expand the geographical scope of our series Sanctions 360° by looking at the current sanctions regime which is relevant for trading with Libya. Libya is an important country in global crude oil supply. It has also substantial amounts of sovereign assets frozen with Western financial institutions which Libya wants to manage for a wider benefit of its people. Finally, as a close neighbour of the EU, co-operation with Libya is critical for prevention of cross-border crime, including human trafficking and fight against terrorism. Accordingly, both businesses and public officials are interested in developing closer relationships with Libya, where applicable international economic sanctions will be one of important points to consider. In this video we summarise existing UN and national sanctions which are relevant when trading with Libya. Thank you for watching!
