2006.12.19 – UNSC Resolution 1730 – Establishment of the Focal Point

Attached is the resolution. It establishes a focal point within the Secretariat (Security Council Subsidiary Organs Branch) to receive de-listing requests and directs the relevant sanctions committees to revise their guidelines accordingly (paras 1 & 2). This is one of three channels to file an application to delist from the UN sanctions lists. The other two are the Ombudsman (available only for terrorist designations) and the applications file by Member States themselves (either on their own initiative or upon an application of a listed person).
