In this video we expand the geographical reach of our series Sanctions 360° to Yemen.
Yemen is highly relevant for international trade as it controls the Bab-el-Mandeb straight connecting the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden which is the route for more than 10% of world trade.
Further, despite the on-going civil war, international business continues relationships with Yemen, for example, by supplying agricultural commodities and pharmaceuticals. This continuous trade is important not only business-wise, but also to alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe currently unravelling in Yemen. Whilst many transactions remain permitted with Yemen, a careful analysis of existing sanctions’ limitations is important. We consider them in this video which aim is to assist operators in the successful management of such risks.
