Sanctions 360: Sanctions and trade in Russian metals

With this video we continue our series Sanctions 360° by looking at how international economic sanctions restrict trade in Russian metals. Metals is a universe in itself ranging from precious metals (e.g., gold), used for investment purposes and production of luxury goods, to metals used in our day-to-day life (e.g., iron), to metals (e.g., nickel or copper) which are key for long-term development objectives, like the electrification of our economies and environmental transition. It is not surprising that the economic sanctions affecting one of their major producers need to be carefully tailored to ensure efficiency of implementation with minimum collateral effect.
