Sanctions 360: Sanctions and intermediated holding of securities

In this next video of our series headed Sanctions 360° we continue to dive into specific areas, where international economic sanctions affect the day-to-day lives of private individuals. Today we discuss the effect of the sanctions on the intermediated holding of securities, or, to put it otherwise, the personal investments of the private persons, who are not the targets of sanctions in their own name, but, nevertheless, had their investments frozen. We illustrate the issues arising through the case-study of the National Settlement Depositary, being one of the most famous examples. Nevertheless, very similar issues arise in connection with asset-freeze designations of other depositaries. Thank you very much for watching!
