The judgement is authority that the prohibition to broadcast within the EU for a French TV company controlled by Russia is consistent with the essence of the Freedom of expression and information. This conclusion was reached by the Court on the basis of: (i) temporary nature of the restriction; (ii) remaining ability of RT France to broadcast news outside the EU; and (iii) remaining powers of RT France to conduct interviews and research within the EU. The judgement is also setting out the standard of JR for the limitation of human rights in connection with the adoption of sanctions.
